Could someone recommend a hotel around the Eiffel Tower with reasonable prices?
They would require 3 rooms for 6 people for only 1 night with proximity to the Eifle tower.
If the prices are too expensive they would would join together and only get 2 rooms with 4 people in one, and 2 in the other.
Thanks,
Mike M
I see that Eiffel is spelled wrong in the topic, but I can't edit it...

This hotel is near Eiffel Tower and has a special for around Euro 100 a night.

You will not find a good hotel under Euro 100 in this (nice) area.
Others like this hotel, also not far

My friend and I stayed at the Hotel Duquesne in back of L'Ecole Militaire (across the street from the Eiffel Tower). It is very clean and comfortable, and about $100 per night. I would definitely recommend staying there. You may even get a view of it from your room.
I have stayed at the Hilton which is just a few blocks from the Tower a number of times. It is not inexpensive, but great service if you are Gold/Diamond. Lounge staff are very attentive and great food/drink selection throughout the day. RER Champ de Mars is right down the street,

Paris Hilton, ooh la la! We were just there. Junior suite with Eiffel Tower view and full breakfast. Wonderful staff. Not cheap though. There's a place next door called the Mercure that has the same great location but looks cheaper. Did your friends check biddingfortravel? Some folks got the Novotel Eiffel Tower for under $100. Gave it a bad review, though.

I stayed at the Hotel Amelie which is just a few blocks from the Tower. Its a pretty simple place. 11 rooms, no elevator. But the staff is really nice, the rates are reasonable.
Oh btw..its not available the last weekend in Sept. I liked it so much, my friends and I reserved the entire hotel. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/biggrin.gif

This hotel has only 2 stars, however, it might be a good deal. I was told, that a hotel with 3 stars needs to have an elevator. And missy ... mentions that it has NOT AN ELEVATOR.

Whats happening in Paris the last weekend in Sept?? Is the big Fashion Show?
I originally at the Paris Hilton for Sept 30-Oct 1st but the rates were 285EU ( and my favourite retaurant was booked up) so we decided to take the Thalys on to BRU.

Check out Grand Hotel Leveque. I found them through www.frommers.com (http://www.frommers.com) . Maybe six blocks to the Eiffel Tower, a block and a half off the subway. Arche de Triumphe isn't much further. I stayed there a year ago May. Comfortable, modest, elevator, great prices. It's on a market street which is pedestrian except for an occasional delivery truck. It was a great stay! www.hotel-leveque.com (http://www.hotel-leveque.com)

FWIW, Rick Steves loves Rue Cler and highly recommends it as a quaint section of Paris. http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/countries/cler2.htm

Its fashion week in Paris, so we are actually very fortunate to get rooms at all, much less take over an entire hotel.
And FWIW.. Amelie is just a couple blocks from Rue Cler

One of the best values in Paris (Bastille, very convenient situation, near the Opera Bastille and Marais district)
http://www.france-paris.com/1-hotel-paris/index2.htm
I know they have a lot of American guests.
Not as smart as the Hilton, not close to the Eiffel Tower, but very cheap (compared to most hotels in Paris) and very friendly staff.

Its also the weekend of the Prix De Arc de Triomphe Europe's ( in many opinions including mine, the world's ) most important horserace at Longchamp which is quite close to Eiffel area. Two years ago the city was mess on that weekend with a big auto show plus many streets being blocked off because of a marathon race.

They went with the Hotel du Rond-Point de Longchamp as one of the recommendations of USAFAN.
Thank you all.
But now I need some more assistance....
Two of them also want to spend a weekend in Amsterdam in mid August. Any hotel suggestions for 2 inexpensive nights in or within proximity to the red light area would be appreciated.
I am sure they will seek out other sites to see but my guess is the red light area is what is drawing them to Amsterdam.
All suggestions would be appreciated.
For future replies to this Amsterdam hotel question please reply to: http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/Forum33/HTML/000120.html

Inexpensive is of course a relative thing. A few decent hotels near the RLD are the Inntel, the Sofitel (not the Sofitel Grand, which is indeed near the RLD, but which is both expensive and very nice), and the AMS City Centre Hotel, which used to be the Cok City Centre Hotel. (Actually, any hotel in the city center/Central Station area is within a few minutes walk of the RLD).
That said, I would strongly encourage them to set their expectations very, very low -- that will help not to be too disappointed.
Finally, Priceline offers some exceptioanlly good buys on Amsterdam hotel rooms. The only caveat is that Priceline includes the Leideseplein area in the city center (which is sort of reasonable -- far more reasonable than their Paris designations) -- the Leideseplein is by no means a lousy area to stay, but it is not at all close to the Red Light District.

Why near the "Red Light District"?? That's not a very nice area. Better is at/near Heeren Gracht.

Any updated reports on this hotel? Hotel du Rond-Point de Longchamp - my son and his wife have booked a room there for early April based on recommendations here and in other forums.

I've stayed at Rond-Point de Longchamp several times. It's OK--typical (small) Paris hotel rooms, nice baths, large room for petit dejeuner in the morning, and the location is excellent (16th arrondisement, close to Place de Mexico, Arc de Triomphe and Trocadero where you get a great view of the Eiffer Tower). You'll have to Metro it to the museums.

Just got back from Paris last week. Stayed at The Best Western Derby Alma. Got a rate on line for $121.00 on the best western website. Very nice hotel. Within 5 minute walk of Eiffel
