How much does a taxi cost from CDG to city center (we are staying at Marriott Paris)? Are there better options - train/bus? Thanks.

Taxi: costs a lot... but can't tell you exactly how much (I never use them, but I think you should expect to pay an average 40-50 Euros)
You can go to Paris (Gare du Nord, Les halles, Denfert) using RER for 7,5 Euro one way (your ticket is good for any connection in Paris, as long as you remain on the Metro network). Or you can use Air France shuttles to go to Montparnasse and Les Invalides.

One of the Air France busses (€10) goes to Etoile, which is at the 'high' end of the Champs-Elysées. The Marriott is a 5-10 minute walk from there.

Taxi is in the €35-45 range. Worth it if you have suitcases and are a party of 2 or 3.

RER + subway service (€7.60) will take you to either the Concorde or Etoile subway station (the Marriott is between the two), after a transfer.


I usually take the AF bus if it goes close enough to my destination.

This spring the taxi fare was about $40.00 to our hotel on the left bank--it should be about the same to the Marriott. I would suggest calling the Marriott concierge and asking about their rates for a car service to meet you in baggage claim. I was surprised to learn that our hotel (not as deluxe as Marriott) offered this service for about the same price (perhaps, $5.00-$10.00 more.).So, we used their car service for our return trip to CDG and it was very convenient. Not a limo, just a comfortable mini-van. . We had two large bags and were pleased to have had this service available.

If you do this, watch your luggage in the subway. When going up an escalator, I turned around to find a kid pulling his empty hand out of my daypack, which was on top of my locked roller bag. I scowled, he smiled and looked sheepish. Don't let this scare you from using the public transit.

Thanks/merci for the info. We'll probably take the taxi as we are 2 people with suitcases, though the Air France bus also looks doable.

The last two times I have made reservations at airportexpress.fr, a shuttlebus service. They e-mail you a confirmation, and you phone from the airport when you arrive. The van usually arrives in about 5 minutes. My recollection is that the fare is about 15 euros per person, minimum 2 people, but that the price includes luggage. They can take other people, but its never happened on the way into Paris for me, but always on the way back. The shuttle takes you right to your hotel, for a guaranteed price, no matter what the traffic. A cab for two people would probably be at least 50 euros, so the shuttle is really a deal.

Unfortunately the airportexpress web site doesn't seem to be there any more. Any other CDG to Paris shuttle services anyone can recommend?
