Hello folks, I was wondering if any of you have stayed at the Quality Inn Abaca 330 Rue De Vaugirard? I am considering a trip there through gotoday.com which included this and a few other lower priced hotels. Any thoughts?
thanks,
Mark

I've never stayed at this property, and I doubt that I ever would because of its location. The hotel is just inside the peripherique (beltway), and it's a long metro ride to anyplace that you'd want to go in Paris (museums, shopping areas, well-known sites, river cruises, etc.).
My guess is that this hotel (and others nearby) are popular with package tours because the tours can get the rooms at a very cheap price. And the rooms are at a cheap price because, given a choice, most people would want to stay in any of several other locations (Opera, St Germain, etc.).

Well, this property isn't actually on the edge of the city. You would be smack in the middle of the 15th arrondissement, which is very residential and not as charming as some other neighborhoods. It's a mix of apartments and shops with some offices. Lots of food and markets but, again, somewhat lacking in the charm department. Close to transport and safe. The rue de Vaugirard is a major South-North thoroughfare on the Left Bank, so it is noisy.
I don't know this property, but you can see a picture of it here (hope this link works):

This is a service provided by the French Yellow Pages that allows you to type in an address and actually see photos and/or map of the building. You can then click to see up the street, down the street and across the street. Pretty fun.
