I plan on doing a MR to Hong Kong for 1 night. Looking for suggestions for a good but not expensive hotel. Arriving 4PM, depart 11AM, no luggage.

There is a hotel on the east side of Wanchai called the South Pacific that offered me an amazing rate (around $20 per night) for my current trip, but I decided to go with one of the CX hotels instead (the Charterhouse) because I figured it must be a dump with a price like that. However, I had the opportunity to spec it last night and was quite impressed (clean, nice lounge on top floor, right next to Times Square). Consequently, I will stay there on my next trip this Thursday.

I've managed to expand my hotel horizons yet again during the last few days and I'm happy with the results, so here's an additional rec: the Park Hotel in TST. While the Park is typically priced at the bottom of the TST market, I rank it above Kimberly/Windsor/etc solely based on the fact that my room there last night was large and comfortable. Furthermore, the location was arguably more civilized than Kimberly Road. I bought my room through an agent at the airport for HK340, but CX holidays is currently offering rooms at around $25/night as part of its Visit HK packages. Obviously it will be tough to get such a deal apart from the package, but I'm pretty sure that sub-300 is attainable.

Try the Kowloon right behind the Peninsula.

Aren't the rooms at the Kowloon Hotel really small?

Yes, VERY small + that property considers itself a notch up from Kimberly et al --> their prices are usually a bit higher.
