I'm heading to San Francisco for a business trip in a bit - and am going to stay at The Argent (since they had a rate on Expedia I couldn't pass up - and the reviews in Fodors looked good). Have had friends who have been to the bar there before - but no one I know has stayed there. Any thoughts on the Argent?

Thanks in advance.

The Argent, formally an ANA Hotel, is a nice upscale business hotel. I've stayed at the hotel a number of times when working at events at Moscone Center, which is across the street from the hotel.

I've usually stayed in rooms on the upper level and the views are terrific. We've had suites at the hotel as well ... decor is modern and in decent taste, unlike the Marriott, which is on the opposite side of the block from The Argent.

The Argent is 1/2 block from Market Street and very close to Union Square and walking distance to some decent area restaurants such as DINE and LuLu. The Metreon is across the street as well and boasts a number of shops, a large movie theatre and other shops that might be of interest. Yerba Buena Gardens is located in the same area and is a great area to have lunch alfresco and people watch.

Have fun!

Thanks raffy! Looks like a good choice - and I'm looking forward to the Argent.

Friends of mine who have stayed at the Argent on business trips were pleased with the hotel. As noted in other postings, it is well-located. I've heard that it sometimes pops up on bidding websites for less than $100 per night.
