I apologize for this cross posting and hope I don't get clobbered for it. But I noticed this board after the fact and feel this really belongs here.

Lately, I've really come to enjoy booking hotels on Orbitz. But there is one problem...they do not list the phone numbers of the individual hotels!
The site asks for feedback so I just called customer service. The guy I spoke with, named "Christopher," said some of the dumbest things I've ever heard from any CSR. First, he said that most people do not have any reason to call the hotels. So, "we leave the phone numbers off the listings as a favor to you." !!!
I suggested that they also leave off the hotel addresses. He replied "but you have to know where the hotel is located." I replied, "all the taxi drivers and airport buses know how to get to the hotels, so who needs the addresses?" This CSR insisted that listing the phone numbers is unnecessary since all the information we need to know is in the listing.
I explained that when I look up a hotel on Orbitz, I usually end up going to the hotel web site to find their phone number. Then, I just book the reservation there instead of at orbitz.
Something as obvious as hotel phone numbers cannot have been left off of Orbitz accidentally. Most likely, they don't want us to call the hotel and possibly get a better rate. When I suggested this, Christopher became very defensive.
I am amazed that Orbitz asks for feedback and then argues with me about my suggestion. Who do these people think they are? There is no way I'll ever use Orbitz again. Maybe if they add the phone numbers and get semi-intelligent CSRs, I'll go back to Orbitz. But for now, "good reddens to bad rubbish!"
