I will arrive at ANC at about 8 p.m. on sunday the 18th and depart at 7 p.m. on the 19th. I was able to secure a rental car, even though availability seems extremely tight. I have not bothered with a hotel room since they seem exorbitant.

Does any one have any suggestions of what to see, where to eat, etc? I would really like some fresh crab legs and halibut.

I was only in ANC long enough to sleep. I did not eat. Hotels are very expensive. However I was able to get one night for $50 + fees (Sheraton ANC) and the second night for $100 + fees (WestCoast Inn) on Priceline. See other ANC posts from about 2 weeks ago for some suggestoins on restaurants. Some guy really liked a place called Paris in downtown for seafood. $$$

If you are aggressive, you could drive to Seward, take a boat tour, and get back to ANC within 24 hours (see other post on ANC).

Drive the Seward Highway down Turnagain Arm, see Portage Glacier, ride the ski lift to the top of the mountain behind the Westin Prince Aleyska Hotel, then enjoy dinner at the Double Musky in Girdwood.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have heard alot about the Prince Aleyska Hotel, and think the drive would be nice. I will ask at the board room when I arrive which direction to head and head out that way.
