Hi, this is my first post. I'm so happy that I found this website. Anyway, I am going to Sweden to visit friends on December 26. I have a few questions. I am not going to ask how cold it's going to be. Here's what I'm wondering...
-What is customs like when you get there? I am flying into Stockholm (ARN)
-What are people in their 20's wearing there? Is it pretty much the same as here?
-As far as bars go, can you wear jeans, or is it dressy?
-Any vegan food anywhere??
Thanks, sorry for all the questions. This is my first trip to another country by myself and I get a little nervous. Thanks!

bunny, welcome to Flyertalk!

Swedish customs are unremarkable: you'll have a green line (your probable choice), a blue line (intra-EU) and a red line, and people going through green/blue are stopped only if the customs guys think you look suspicious. The Swedes are notoriously strict about drugs, so long hair, scruffiness, cannabis decals, transiting Amsterdam etc all increase the odds of a cavity search.

People in their 20s are wearing more or less the same as in the US, only a lot more of it because it's colder. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/biggrin.gif Only highest-class restaurants and bars will have a dress code, so jeans will be just fine.

Veganism and vegetarianism are quite popular among youth in Sweden, in big cities like Stockholm most restaurants will be able to rustle up vegan dishes. Out in the country things get more difficult.

Lycka till!
