I will be in Stockholm between Feb 1-3, 2002.

I have never been there and in fact I didn't have time to do a decent reseach on the net or even to buy a Lonely Planet guide.

I understand that February is not the perfect time to visit Stockholm. And Royal Palace and Vasa Ship Museums are the most important places to visit.

Any other things to do? Other "must" places to visit in the city? Most popular bars/pubs to drink?

Yes, the Vasa Museum is great - don't miss it. Stockholm is beautiful. There's a great church .. Ooops ... just looked at my watch, I have to get my son up for school. I'll return to this later and give you some ideas on what we did there.

Back now ... you can see the changing of the guard at the Royal Palace. I thought it was better than in London because you don't have to stand behind a fence and there's a lot more room available so you have a better chance of being in the front row. Check the schedule because I don't know if they do it every day in the winter. You can also go in many of the buildings. The Royal Armory with all the coaches was impressive.

Riddarholm Church is the one I started to mention. Very nice dome and inside most all the dead royals are buried.

It's also nice to take the ferry (you can walk to the ferry stop from the church) over to Drottingholm Palace, where the royal family lives. It's very palatial and has beautiful grounds - although in February I don't know how much walking outside you'll want to do.

Shopping in old town on the old cobblestone streets is fun. We did a lot of canoeing, but doubt you'll be doing that in Feb. either.

Have fun.
