I need advise on a trip to Sweden in May. I will be going either the first or second week in May from Montreal or any airport in the Northeastern US to Gothenburg. I have found tickets from Montreal for around $400 on Air Canada. Does anyone have experience with flights to Sweden? Is that a good price I was hoping to fly United since I'm Premier Executive for the 100% bonus but the lowest price is nearly $1000. Should I wait for a lower price on United or book on Air Canada which I don't mind since I at least get the status miles.
Any suggestions? I don't fly to Europe enough to know when is a good time to buy and what is a good price.
Thanks!
Scott

Welcome to the board SMLBoops and welcome to the great country of Sweden later this year. I think 400$ is a pretty nice deal from Montreal when you consider you will be flying in may. Have you checked prices with SAS as well?

SAS is a Star Alliance member so you get UA Premier status miles when you fly them. You might also try flying UA to London, Frankfurt or Paris and connecting on SAS from there. That might give you a better price.

From these three cities mention above you could fly direct to GOT, otherwise you have to connect in either Copenhagen,Stockholm or Oslo.

The cheapest as far as I know is Iceland Air who is also partners with SK and another one is Polish airline LOT. If you are lucky then you might get a fare on LOT for $350 roundtrip and Iceland Air for around $400. Also AA has a fare ex-ORD for $356 in winter. Not too sure about the price in summer but from recollection Lufthansa charges $376 to Stockholm.
