While on safari, we need to leave some luggage at JNB which I've read is in a room on the basement parking level. Has anyone done this before or know anything about it? Is it safe generally? Thanks.

There was similar subject/thread (in which I posted as well) over on the BA forum under FTMiles.
We were thinking of doing the same thing, but others suggested the Intercontinental Hotel there at JNB - that is, getting a room and storing your luggage there.
If you're flying First on BA (by chance), they use the IC Hotel for their First Lounge, so you can store luggage there as well.
That's about all I know, since we've not yet been there (going in Sept.)

Thanks PDX and I have posted a similar question over on the FT Miles board for African airlines since we are flying on SAA in Business(yes, I've heard the bad news)-don't have miles for BA though. I did a search on the BA miles forum but did not find any details on leaving baggage. Our agent who booked the safari said to use the facility at JNB but I sure would like to hear from someone who has used it or recommends otherwise!

The JNB airport has a left luggage service in the international terminal (probably also in the domestic terminal). I don't know the cost but it is a daily rate, nor do I know the theft rate (in the past JNB was notorious for lots of stolen luggage). The alternative is to leave luggage at the Intercontinental airport which is located 100 feet from the terminal building (hotel is a conversion of the old airport tower). Personally I think using the hotel is safer and more reliable but I would only do that if staying there.
