Does anyone have any info on this hotel ?
I know that Conde Nast included it in their Hot List for this year but that is about all I can find out on the web.
Any info would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks

Middle of nowhere (100 miles from Capetown), very quiet and beautiful lodge in the B&B style (maybe 20 guests, feels like a private estate). Great place for a weekend getaway if you are a rich Johannesburg executive, but why travel from England to be in the part of SA that has no vestige of SA (it is more like an English estate than being in Africa -- by design). I find travel to places like this to be absurd and defeating the point of travel. But to each his own.

Thanks for the info number_6.
I'm not so sure about the editorial but to answer your question - my south african wife and I want somewhere quiet to relax by the sea for the last few days of a pretty intense 3 week honeymoon through southern africa before we fly home to our new life as a married couple.
Hope that explains my motivation for the question.

In that context it is an excellent choice. My comment sounded perhaps a bit harsh but I was trying to convey that this property is not like the usual SA country houses (with regional charm and local character), instead it is trying to be an international standard getaway for the rich and famous who want privacy and don't want to see the country that they are visiting. Hard to say that in such few words, and it is an important distinction. Most tourists are better off in Kruger than Hermanus (or more to the point, are expecting Kruger rather than H.). Are you also staying at the Palace in Sun City? Their honeymoon suite would be perfect and about the only time this hotel isn't over the top.

100 miles? Isn't it more like 60 or so?

No problem number_6 - we thought it would be a nice final stop on the trip as we fly out of CPT back to London.

No - we decided not to go to Sun City in the end. The closest we will get to it is Jo'burg before heading to Botswana on safari.

Thats the link I found when I searched first time round but it isn't the same hotel.
The closest I could find to an official site is this page
http://royalmalewane.com/TheRoyalPortfolio.aspx
After all that when I spoke to them they didn't have availability on the dates we were looking for. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/frown.gif
Any other recommendations for good hotels on the cape by the sea ?

Try http://www.grootbos.com
I have stayed here twice (1998 and 2000) and enjoyed it both times. The food was quite good and the staff were very friendly. We used it as a convenient location for diving with Great Whit e sharks and exploring the Cape.
