An attorney in my firm was in court recently arguing a motion for sanctions against another attorney. The other attorney said that he had not appeared at the hearing (scheduled for April 2) because his March 26 flight from S.A. had been cancelled because of the war in Iraq and it took him several days to get another flight. He did not identify the airline.

I told my partner that this explanation didn't make sense for a variety of reasons but said I would check around to see if anyone was aware of flights being cancelled during that time frame.

Any help?

I flew SAA from Kinshasa to Johannesburg and out again around that time (March 24th/25th). I didn't hear about any cancellations (due to the war) when I was there.
