How is the weather in Cape Town in late Ocotber?

I am leaving in 48 hours for Cape Town. I have purchased the Lonely Planet City Guide. The following is what they characterize as the weather between September and November:

"Between September and November the weather is unpredictable with anything from bright warm days to howling southeasterly storms and winds up to 120 km/h."

Not exactly helpful in terms of planning, eh?

The weather is quite nice. About 20-28 °Celsius but the wind can be cold and at night you have to wear a sweater or jacket. But late October/November and February are the best month imo.December/January are holiday month in SA and so it gets very full in Cape Town!
