I am thinking about going to Cape Town during the Christmas holidays. I know that Christmas is celebrated there but is everything going to be shut down for instance wineries?

Is this a bad time go?

In contrast to most African countries, South Africa has a sizeable middle class (5,000,000+) which is affluent enough to travel. Schools close for summer vacation in December, so Christmas falls in the peak domestic holiday season.

Tourist attractions are unlikely to be closed. On the contrary, they will be very busy. For this reason, I tend to avoid South Africa in December.
