I am planning a trip to South Africa the end of December. I would like to know if anyone on FT has been to the Mombo Camp in Botswana? I have done a gazallion searches on Google, and have that information, but the same sources just keep popping up on other peoples websites.
I am also frustrates that I cannot find any active travel websites (other than this one). At the present time I am most interested in the above, but would appreciate any references. I like Fodors OK, but the same people just post the same thing over and over.
Also, does anyone have any information/experience with the half day elephant safari that is close to Victoria Falls?
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Never heard of Mombo Jumbo If you are going to Botswana your best bet is the Okavango. You will have to get to Maun and on from there. In Maun they have a helicopter service that can take you to Vic Falls or low over the wildlife.
You can get information on Botswana from their Govt website.

You would be better off booking the trip in Botswana or SA price wise.

I would agree!! Mombo is located within Botswana's Okavango Delta, situated just off the northwestern tip of Chiefs Island. It is located within the Moremi Game Reserve. I would appreciate any personal knowledge of an agency within SA that may be able to get me a better price. I have made several contacts on the internet, and phone calls to South Africa/Botswana and they all come up with the same prices.

I would suggest getting in touch with Bert Du Pleiss (sp?) who runs Fish Eagle Safaris. His email is exafrica@aol.com
We booked a Botswana trip with him in 1999 and he was excellent and attentive. The next time we go to one of the areas he serves we will definitely book with him. Ask about cash discounts, etc.

YES. BRILLIANT!
MOMBO IS ONE OF THE TOP 4 SAFARI CAMPS IN BOTSWANA BASED ON LOCATION, GUIDES, GAME, AMENITIES AND AS A RESULT IS ONE OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE. IT IS ARGUABLY THE TOP SAFARI CAMP IN BOTSWANA GAME WISE AND IS FULLY BOOKED MANY MONTHS IN ADVANCE. MOMBO DOES NOT NEED TO DISCOUNT.
RE RECOMMENDATION: MIGHT YOU BE WANTING APPLES AND ORANGES? STAYING IN SUPER EXPENSIVE SAFARI CAMP AND WANTING AN OPERATOR WHO IS A HEAVY DISCOUNTER?

Thanks for taking the time to comment. As the December bookings were starting to fill up, I went ahead and booked for Mombo directly with the Wilderness Safari retail division. I'm happy to hear that there is another vote that Mombo is a great place!
