We're making our first trip (unescorted) to Dublin for 4 days in October. Any lodging, dining and touring guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Dublin's a great city; it's transformed itself from a dowdy old city to a stylish and hip place to enjoy.

I really enjoyed staying at the Fitzwilliam Hotel. The location is perfect: at the top of Grafton Street, across the street from St Stephen's Green. The designers put contemporary furnishings throughout the hotel, so you get luxury with some style.

On my trip to Dublin I stayed at a hotel named Bewleys something or another. It was right down the street from the Temple Bar area and very centrally located. It was surprising how easy it was to find as I had really no idea where it was other than an approximate area in relation to the river. Took the bus from the train station (coming in from Shannon) and the hotel was a short walk from the main bus station.

Some great music in the Temple Bar area! Can't wait to go back!
