Would like to know if there is a railroad station at the airport (MXP) or will I need to go into town to take the train to Venice?
Also, any info on hotels at MXP?
Thanks!!
Q1: Yes, and yes. There is a train station at MXP, but the train will take you to Milano Nord (or Cadorna), and from there you'll have to hop on the subway that will take you to Stazione Centrale. There is also a bus that will take you directly from MXP to Stazione Centrale. Depending on the time of day, the train-subway combo *might* be slightly faster, but a bit more of a schlep.
Q2:I know there is at least one hotel near MXP, but I've never stayed there, and I don't remember the name. Only time I had to stay near the airport I used a hotel in the nearby town of Saronno, which is on the train line between Milano and MXP (less than 20 min. away, w/fairly frequent trains). About $80 and not so nice, but if you have an early flight out of MXP and can't stay closer, it might do. The hotel is a 5 min. walk from the train station in Saronno, and, for the life of me, I can't remember what it was called.
