I'm trying to budget for my BsAs/Bariloce trip next momth.
Can you give me an idea of what some common things cost (in pesos and I can do the conversion) in BA these days? Steak dinner w/ wine, cab ride from EZE to town and any other common things.
Thanks.

I recall steak dinners with a beer for about $8US. And it was excellent & large beef. I think I paid $12US RT from & back to EZE, but it may have been less - it was part of my hotel package. I paid $89RT to & back from Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego. Cab rides around town are very cheap. I really enjoyed BA. You should consider taking the jet ferry to Colonia (return same day or one night) or MOntevideo in Uruguay for a few days. Iguazu Falls is fantastic too a two nights, but I don't know the airfare since I used FF miles.

Prices were reasonable as I recall - in June - airport bus with hotel transfer was 16 pesos, subway ride 70 cents, coffee shop sandwiches about 3 pesos, "99 cent" stores were "2 peso" stores, car service to airport from hotel about 40 pesos. One thing that I found fairly "expensive" was postage! Stamps for a post card to the US were about 5 pesos. Some of the stamps were LARGE so I would recommend you apply the stamps before writing the address (Note: I was there on a holiday weekend and the post offices were closed, so I had to buy stamps at the airport, and ended up with 2-3 on each post card! Perhaps stamps from the PO are smaller - but thought I would mention it...).

Yup - @ the Correo (sp?) near my hotel, the stamps were just a printout on a self-adhesive label http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/frown.gif OTO buying stamps in a General Store got you real stamps - but then you'd have to 'lick-em yourself http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif
