Hey all:
I'm planning a trip to BA over New Years with a bunch of friends. We need to book about 4 hotel rooms, and are looking for a fun place that would be on the very cheap side. I've seen mixed numbers for hotel prices in BA, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place where we could get a good deal. Good deal = <$50/night for about 14 days.
Thanks muchly!

I just got back from BA. Stayed at the Milhouse hostel. I know what you are thinking! It is not a typical hostel. It was the nicest hostel I've ever been in. Private double room with private bath. Very clean and quiet. Great location 4 blocks from the Obelisk. US$20 per night including tax and breakfast! www.milhousehostel.com (http://www.milhousehostel.com)
Email me if you have any more questions.

The Marriott Plaza San Martin is wonderful. Ask for the end rooms facing the Plaza. Prices aren't bad either: around $100/ night (and that was before the devaluation).

How'd you get this rate? I stayed there in '99, and it's definitely worth $100, but not much more. I'm going back in a coupla' months, and would LOVE the rate you quoted.

Any other suggestions for good hotels < $50?
How is the Cristoforo Colombo Suites? Is it ok?

We stayed at the Castelar Hotel in a big group and liked it a lot! Great (central) location, OK rooms, excellent prices. Note: they have a sauna/spa that you get free access to, which is also very nice.

If you speak Spanish, you may be able to negotiate a better rate with them over the phone than via email, etc.
Enjoy BA - it's wonderful!
