Europcar seems to be giving some pretty good rates for car rentals in Argentina. A compact can be had for USD 30 a day inc. tax (21% I.V.A.) and with unlimited miles in such remote locations as FTE and REL. Economy cars for slightly less.

Unfortunately, the site (www.europcar.com) doesn't give you the extended list of locations if you enter through the rates and reservations link. You have to go through the products and services one.

Update. The Europcar site lies. There are free mileage limitations. Free mileage depends on rates and how long you rent for.

I've used Eropcar in EZE more than once. Reasonable rates and free mileage (Hertz and Avis only allowed 200km/120mi free a day. This was in Jan 2003). Europcar does not have a booth at EZE. There is an agent holding a sign at EZE. The contract is done at the arrivals VIP lounge. Insurance is up to you.

I use Europcar in MVD. The place used to be AI Autorent International, but they now have the Europcar brand, too. I have been very pleased -- I've been renting there monthly for the past year or so...
