I'm planning a trip to SCL (Santiago) and IPC (Easter Island). I would specially appreciate reccomendations for places to stay at IPC.

For those who have taken the LAN Chile flights from SCL to IPC, is Business class significantly better than Coach?

General comments for SCL would also be appreciated, as I'm still in the early planning stages of what to do/see...

I only have one quick answer for you - LA flights that operate as 2 cabins of service, but are on a 3 cabin plane (the 767) use the F cabin (one row of sleepers) as the J cabin, the Y cabin for Y, and the actual J cabin for special pax or if the flight is full, etc, with Y service.

General tips:
Don't expect luxury on Easter Island. All the hotels are crap, and relatively expensive compared to Asian islands for similar accomodations.
Santiago is dead as Jimmy Hoffa on Sunday. Not a good time to be there, *especially* if you are planning to go to bars and whatnot.
Friend just got back, liked Valparaiso quite a lot. Haven't been there, personally.
Don't miss the pre-Columbian museum in Santiago under any circumstances. Their fine arts museum is also top-notch, imo.
LA is significantly better in biz. It is an international plane, so if you have been on an international carrier in biz, it will be similar.
EB is right, they run a three-class as a two class. You might get one on the way there, you won't get one on the way back. They won't preassign row 1 until the day of travel. Since the plane comes from PPT, they give the seats away there.
Have fun. I liked Easter Island a lot. Rent a car (about $40 a day) and just putter around the island. It's small and easy to navigate. I always enjoy Santiago, and I find it a very comfortable city. Not so exciting, but it has its moments.
