Staying in Singapore for 2 days, returning to the US from Bali.
Primarily looking for best location, as well as good service and reasonable rates (under $150/night).
CN Traveler has the Sheraton, Four Seasons, Raffles, Ritz and Shgangri-La on their Gold List. I think only the Sheraton would be within budget. Any other good options??
Marriot comes up on Priceline a lot- how's that?

The Sheraton is nice, but you will probably need a taxi. It's about a mile from the main drag, iirc. Maybe a little less. There is a good night market nearby.

This topic comes up frequently - a quick search in this forum should yield a lot of results. But in a nutshell, nice hotels in SIN are inexpensive by global standards. Even without Priceline, you should be able to get something decent (Sheraton, Marriott, Pan Pacific, Conrad, Oriental, etc) for around US$100/night. People frequently report getting these hotels for around US$60/night on PL. Even true luxuty hotels (Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Raffles, etc) in SIN can be had for under under US$200/night and frequently quite a bit less than that (the Ritz seems to frequently be around US$150).

There are two main hotel areas to choose from in SIN - Orchard Road and Marina Bay. You can't go wrong either way. Either one is a longish walk or shortish taxi ride to all the restaurants and bars along the river. Orchard Road has all of the upscale shopping if thats your thing. For that, you can't beat the location of the Marriott - at the corner of Orchard and Scotts Rds. And its a nice hotel for a Marriott. I'd avoid the Sheraton - its also a nice property for a Sheraton, but the location isn't ideal - there's nothing really within walking distance.

Try a search for "Singapore" in the Marriott and Sheraton forums and you'll find tons of info on these properties. Also try the Luxury Hotels forum for info on the FS, RC and Raffles.

The subway station (the "MRT") is just outside the Sheraton (IIRC, the Newton Station). One stop away (3 minutes) from the tourist/shopping belt of Orchard Road.
Also going from memory (sorry I last stayed here in 1996), the Sheraton has a pretty impressive indoor waterfall in the cafe - very nice.

Try The Fullerton. It is next to boat key and also walking distance (across the bridge) from Marina area.
Just try what offers they have.
You wont regret staying at this hotel....
