The flights to Singapore in early December look to be about ~1,000+ is this normal, or does anyone think it will drop later. I need to be there December 5th. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you could be there 2 weeks later, you could go BC for $600 more.

This does not sound normal - Dec 5 is not yet peak peak season yet. Peak starts from the 18th onwards when it is very difficult to obtain Pacific (read: NRT) routings and continues to Jan 5 or thereabouts.

Have you shopped around?

Tide,

Yes, I have shopped this through everything I know, Travelocity, United, NWA, Singapore air, all have the same ~$1000+. I am wondering if it is just too far out in time to reduce prices yet?? but I have to depart and return on those dates?? Any suggestions? Thanks

You might want to try a consolidator (not travelocity) when booking fares to Asia. Go to your nearest Asian Market (Japanese, Chinese, Korean whatever) and pick up a free newspaper - they usually advertise at the back. It'll be in Chinese/Korean/Chinese and if you don't read any of these languages it's still easy to make-out it's a travel agency and call the numbers provided. Also you might to travel Dec 3 to avoid weekend surcharges. If you're flying ANA (they are expensive compared to the competition), try www.iace-usa.com (http://www.iace-usa.com) - that's who I use.

Discounted Y tickets to Singapore on ANA usually run $900 after taxes or so from the East Coast (West Coast will be cheaper) for a mid-week departure so the prices you're seeing may not be totally out of whack. But the point I was making is that Dec 5 is not usually peak peak season yet so there should be some availability in the discount fare classes and the prices will not be the highest in the whole year. If you're leaving for example 2 weeks later then most if not all of the discounted fare classes would be gone by now.
