I have heard that Bahia is a very pleasant place to visit. Can you tell me something about it? How far is it from Rio de Janeiro? How many days should I plan for a visit? Do I rent a car? Where should I stay?

Any help you can give me in planning a visit would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, SanDiego1K.

Are you talking about the city of SALVADOR de Bahia or the region in general?

I haven't been to Salvador yet, but many friends have. I'd be happy to provide you with their advice if it can help.

Brazil is an incredible country to visit.

SanDiego1K:

Out of curiosity, what prompted you to post in "Latin America" rather than "South America"?

I think these two forum shoul be combined.

Two three days should be OK. Avoid driving, and fly.

It's very simple. Latin America came first in the forum list; I didn't even realize there was a separate forum titled South America.

What geographic area is encompassed by Latin America and what area is South America? I hope that I'm not offending anyone, but I thought that Latin America referred to the non-English speaking areas of the Americas - South America, Central America, and Mexico.
