I'll be going on assignment in Bangalore for a few weeks and am looking for suggestions with regards to hotels. Does anyone have experience with the Oberoi Bangalore or the Taj Residency? I'm platinum with Starwood, so the Windsor Sheraton and Towers would be a good choice for points earning, but availability looks very limited for the dates I'll be there.

Both Oberoi and Taj are just fine - They are the leading brand name chain.

I've stayed at both. The Oberoi is much better, IMHO, but more money than the Taj. The Taj is just fine, but not as nice as the Oberioi.

Regardless of which one you stay at, be sure to dine at the other place once or twice--they are a walking distance of each other.

If you've the opportunity, stay at the Leela Palace. It's by far the best hotel in all of South India.

The Oberoi would be your next best bet and the Taj should be your third choice.
