Hi, I have a dog who is flying back with me from Kolkata. I prefer not to change flights. Does anyone know of an airline that goes directly to SFO or Oakland or how I can find a list of routes from India to SFO? Also, if the plane stops over, but doesn't change planes that's okay too. I just don't want to have to move her to another plane. Although I am pretty sure there is no such a thing as a direct flight from India to SFO.. It's a very very long flight otherwise.
Thanks Ananda

The only same-aircraft service available between India and the United States is between Mumbai and New York JFK (Air India, Delta), Chicago ORD (Air India), Newark EWR (Air India), Detroit (Northwest); Ahmedabad and Newark EWR (Air India); Delhi and New York JFK (Air India).
All other routes will require AT LEAST one change of plane and usually TWO.
If you are flying from Kolkota to San Francisco, there are only three options that require only 1 change of plane. One is to take British Airways to London LHR and then onward to San Francisco. Another is to take KLM via Amsterdam. The third option is to take Singapore Airlines via Singapore, but this will involve an additional stop in either Hong Kong or Seoul ICN, although no change of plane is involved.
All these airlines serve Kolkota very sporadically however (British Airways is twice weekly only, KLM is once weekly only in summer, Singapore Airlines is thrice weekly), so be warned that you do not have many options.

Kolkatta is a toughie. As B747 pointed out, some stop is enevitable.
