My wife and are planning a grand tour of the South Pacific. We definitely want to include some time in either Vanuatu or New Caledonia. Very eager to here arguments for both!

Also, I would appreciate any tips on how to find bargains. Everything I've come across is priced in US$, which I'm sure is higher pricing than I might be able to find. Thanks for your help!

I have been to both and I have to say that for me Vanuatu wins hands down.

We stayed at what was then the Intercontinental and spent our days hiring taxis to take us to the best places around the Island or lazing in paddle boats out on the lagoon, whee the water so crystal clear, like looking through glass.

The people are very friendly and the holiday can be as relaxing as you want.

IMHO New Caledonia doesn't have the beauty of Vanuatu.
