I am going to be attending a wedding in St Thomas in November. I have visited St Thomas once - one day on a cruise a couple years ago - I took a day tour.

On this trip I am planning to spend a couple days in St Thomas but this time I was thinking I might want to visit St John. Would you recommend that I take a day trip? Or is better to spend a couple days?

Finally, I recently obtained my open water and advanced open water scuba certifications. Does anyone have any recommendations for scuba locations in St Thomas/St John??

Thanks for your help!

Definitely stay a couple days. A large portion of St. Johns is a national park and if you like pristine Caribbean conditions there are a lot of advantages over St. Thomas. Check out the website below for diving. My friend has worked there for the past 3 seasons and really enjoys it. St. Johns can be a bit pricey but if you really had to you can take the ferry back and forth at the end of the day as it is quick and inexpensive. Enjoy!

Endor - I recommend actually a few day trips. I stayed at the Marriott in St. Thomas, and would head over in the morning for the day. It's lots of fun to just poke in and out of the various beaches.

As for diving, unfortunatly St. Thomas/St. John really isn't all that great for diving, but there is still stuff to see there, and there is a dive outfit out of St. John, I don't remember much about it, but I bet if you went to scubaboard.com you can find more current recommendations.

Better diving option might be out of Tortola, BVI.
