We're considering taking a family vacation with my son, his wife and their 2 young children. But we need ideas on where to go.
You would think a house rental would be fine, but my daughter-in-law would like maid services, and restaurants on site.
We would like to be right on a sandy beach. Totally isolated and private is just fine.
The children don't need a whole lot of activities... so we don't need one of those comprehensive places with structured activities.
Ideally we'd have a 3-bedroom suite. Or a cottage that would have 3 bedrooms.
Price? Well, maybe $3-4000. for a week. Time of year? October
We definitely don't want Florida... rather some obscure place in the Caribbean.
I'd appreciate any of your ideas.
Thanks in advance,
Rita

akhullar,
I have bookmarked psvresort.com for a future trip. It looks incredible. It would be a waste on the babies.
Still looking for something for them 'tho.

Try Aruba, Saint Maartin, or Paradise Island in Bahamas.

The 3 yr and 5 yrold requirementkind of puts me in a bind. I´d suggest looking at some all-inclusives. ParadiseIsl.in the Bahamas (Atlantis)has quite a few kids friendly activities, but it is worth asking the resorts directly. Most places I´ve visited do not have much for the kids.

I've looked at these resorts a couple of times. They have kids clubs and you can arrage babysitting. Might be worth checking out.

Check out Little dix Bay on
Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin
Islands - wonderful resort on a pristine beach ... very laid back and relaxed but with all the comforts (but no pool and you won't miss it as the swimming is so good at the beach). I recall that they have a nanny service as well as a chilren's "camp" and and will even arrange it so that the adults can dine alone in the evening while the little ones are taken care of. For a while there was an offer that applied to three generations travelling together that basically provided the grandparents room free of charge. They have also added some two and three bedroom villas to the resort. Lovely place.

pstoecker,
I've given a lot of thought to Little Dix Bay, and haven't ruled it out. We visited the resort when we rented a house on Virgin Gorda about 10 years ago. It was beautiful.
Thanks for the note.

Another vote for Little Dix Bay. Wonderful resort--only catch is that there is not much else on the island.

Try the Bucaneer on St. Croix.

A friend has a large private house for rent in Aruba, on the beach, private pool, great place.

Aruba is safe, with many good restaurants, very kid friendly. If you are looking for a 3 br. timeshare, try Costa Linda, La Cabana or Marriott Ocean Club. La Cabana is a big place with lots of kids.
