I normally don't get CDW when I rent cars, relying just on my car insurance instead. Though I have heard horror stories about what happens if you get into an accident with a rental car, i.e. have to pay for loss of use of the car by the rental company, in no fault states like HI, it doesn't matter if the other driver is to blame, etc. But the cost of the extra insurance is SO ridiculous, I take my chances. I'm vacationing in PR soon and would like to know if the drivers there are like everywhere else, more or less, or are they particularly bad? Will it pay to get the CDW and any other extra insurance offered by Hertz, Avis, etc. in San Juan? Thanks.
