Wife and I are planning a trip to Belize in November, and are having trouble choosing between Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker. Here's what we're looking for:
1. Good diving, and diving options (from reputable shops, of course)
2. Nice lodging (private bath, hot water)- hopefully under $100/night
3. Good beaches
4. Safe environment, easy to get around
5. Tour options to Altun Ha
6. Laid back atmosphere
7. Enough to do for 5 days (we plan on 2 dives/day)
Any thoughts or suggestions...
Hi, dave_261!
Ran across this site, which looks pretty informative. I know NOTHING about Belize or diving, but it looks like the folks here sure might! And they have message forums where you can post specific questions (including a forum specifically on diving).

How was your trip to Vancouver/Victoria, by the way?

The best diving sites are way out there. To enjoy the fabulous Belize diving, you have to get on a live aboard. The diving is good enough and shallow enough that you can do 4 or even 5 dives a day if you do not shower.
Get a boat with A/C. The diving is the best we have ever had in the carribean.

What a good memory you have. We had a great trip out there, and even made it up to Whistler for a day. Good weather, food, and lots of things to do. Highlight was probably the whale watching in Victoria, although the Granville Island Brewery tour was a close second!
