Any thoughts about or experiences with Anguilla? I am particularly interested in the possibility of daytrips to neighboring islands.

Hi! I am also thinking of a trip to Anguilla (Honeymoon actually) in October. I would never dream of e-mailing someone without invitation, but would love any information I can get as far as must see/do activities. Anyone with suggestions as to the most affordable way to get there would be a Great help. So far the airfare into either AXA or SXM seems to be almost as expensive as our hotel package for the two weeks!
Thanks again.

I have been to Anguilla twice and stayed at the Cuisinart resort both times.

Anguilla has gorgeous beaches and upscale lodging and dining but is extremely quiet. There is no night life to speak of, nor is there a downtown area or shopping outside of the resort. To get any of that you would probably boat to St. Martin.

The island itself is sandy and flat. The people are generally quite pleasant.

If you just like relaxing and beach activities, you might really enjoy it. Do keep in mind that it is very expensive and budget accordingly.

Kira, the two ways to get there are to either fly to San Juan then fly American over or fly to St. Maarten and take the ferry.

Anguilla in my opinion is an island for one type of person. That type is one who enjoys peace and tranquility and in my opinion the finest dining the caribbean has to offer. It has the best beaches in the caribbean, the top 3 I'd say, Shoal Bay, Meades Bay, and Little Bay that you wont find anywhere else, and its impossible to describe why they are so special unless you are sitting there admiring them. It is true about the nightlife. There is simply none. However, Anguilla isnt meant for that type of person, so if you are looking for it I suggest you stay on St. Maarten. In addition, there are at least 5 world class restaurants on the island, Including my two favorites, Hibernia and Tasty's. Make sure you bring your wallet as it is unlikely that you will spend less than 100 per person. In short, Anguilla is for romantics and daydreamers, nothing more, nothing less. Its my favorite place to be anywhere in the Western Hemishphere, but I'm sure someone will disagree.

Anguilla is the greatest! We have been all over the Caribbean and nothing compares in terms of beautiful beaches, great dining and friendly people. We loved it so much that we built a house there. There is limited nightlife (Johnno's and The Pumphouse, where you can dance the night away). In terms of neighboring islands for day trips, you can go to St. Martin, St. Barts and Statia. There are also day excursions to small, uninhabited islands like *****ly Pear, Scrub and Dog Islands. GO and you won't regret it.

Time to start planning a trip to Anguilla. Probably will try to hit St. Martin and St. Barts for at least one day, maybe two, each. As far as flight and ferry schedules are concerned, is their any benefit of flying into one island as opposed to the other (I am assuming that SXM would be the easiest)?
