I am looking for recommendation of beach hotels/resorts in Belize, which have pool etc.. but from where I can also get some good scuba diving done.

I would prefer small/boutique places not too crowded, but may consider bigger/chain hotels/resorts.

Must be on the beach and offer that "something special".

Any suggestions would be appreciated (including URLs).

My wife and I stayed at Mata Rocks on Ambergris Caye last November. Just a quaint small hotel. Only thing unusual was that only 1 other couple was there while we were there. The other hotels in the area also seemed empty. We just about had the little beach, beach bar and beach hammock to ourselves. The pool was being renovated, but the owners Liz and Terry had the OK for us to use the hotel next door's pool. Basic room ammenties, use of bicycles and a dock for our almost daily excursions elsewhere. Not one of the nicer, pricier hotels, but for the value, I would go back.

Unless things have radically changed since my last visit, the closest thing to a boutique hotel in Belize is going to be in Mexico City.

Probably the best food and diving will be on a live aboard. The best diving is out near Lighthouse reef. The dropoff out there is a couple thousand feet, from the shelf at 30-60 feet. It is too far to get there from the inner, Barrier reef, and the mainland and Island Hotels

Chaa Creek lodge-Belize

THis place was written up in USA Today recently, I know nothing about it though.
