Anybody been to Atlantis in the Bahamas. $275.00 a night seems a bit pricy. I am looking to take my friend and her daughter for 2 or 3 days first week of July.

We were there about 4 years ago. The property is beautiful, no question. However we stayed in the Beach Tower and it was awful. Don't know if they've renovated it since, but the rooms were old, with very worn and broken furniture and a woman across the hall was screaming about a flood. Perhaps the other towers (Coral and Royal) are better, but I'm sure more expensive. We took the gourmet meal plan. At that time it was $75. per day per person for two meals, breakfast and dinner. The restaurants were wonderful and we really enjoyed them, however be aware if you do this, that they add a 15% gratuity to your cc based on the MENU cost of the meal, not on the price you paid for the meal plan. This can run into a nice amount of money. Also coffee is not included (at least it wasn't then) in the plan so they charge you extra for that. Personally I did not appreciate being nickeled and dimed at such a resort. Another thing to watch out for, is that they sell one-day passes to cruiseline passengers to use the facilities. I was very annoyed by this as it took away from the elegance I was hoping to experience for the money I spent. It also makes the atmosphere very chaotic. I would not go back, but that is just MHO.

We went to Nassau last year over New Years. My 12 and 13 year old girls loved it. We decided to stay at the Comfort Suites across the stree from Atlantis. It is a decent property with full access to all Atlantis has to offer. It is not cheap either, running around $200 a night but once you factor in the Atlantis waterpark attraction it is a relative bargain. Atlantis is amazing. We have traveled to a number of places including Maui, Kona, Paris, London, Orlando, Lake tahoe, etc. and for kids I have seen nothing like it. I am not a big fan of the caribbean due to the high prices, mediocre food and poor service. That said, when planning this years Christmas time trip the kids only wanted to got to Atlantis. Hope this helps.

For kids yes, they will very much enjoy it.

As an adult I felt it was too contrived. Like someone got ahold of a Vegas hotel developer's plans. The Atlantis is not what I look for when travelling to the Caribbean as I'm not a resort person.

If you do go, I reviewed some Non-Atlantis restaurants in the Flyertalk Dining Forum.
