We are going to St. Martin over Labor Day weekend. Do you have any advice for a pleasant hotel for two adults? I've bought Fodors CARIBBEAN, as well as picked up the AAA guide. Everything sounds bland.
Is St. Martin an interesting place to visit? Our ticket is such that we must fly into St. Martin, but we could take a boat to a nearby island and return from it. We have 3 nights there.
Thank you for your help.

I am not a maven on St. Maartin but I've been there three times visiting from a cruise ship. It is one of my favorites. We have always done the tours that include the oldest synagogue and over the years we have watched it be refurbished. It has a wonderful history. Then we go to Orient Beach. Orient Beach is half clothes and half nude. We, of course, stay on the clothed side. There are several little restaurants right on the beach, but only one that has a live band, and we sit and have burgers watching lots of the locals dancing and having a ball. Of course we have to shop, and there is a wonderful open-air flea market with truly wonderful bargains. It is my favorite place to pick up little goodies. The beaches are lovely and Orient Beach had lots of water activities including parasail and such. That's the extent of my knowledge, sorry I don't know more.
