I need a recommendation for a 3-night condo/villa rental near Cruz Bay, St. John, USVI.

I will be staying at the Westin Resort in March b/c I'm using my starwood points. However, I keep hearing really good reviews about the Caneel Bay Resort being the nicest place to stay on the island!

Yes, I have also heard some good things about Caneel, although it does seem a bit pricey. I will be looking for something a little more economical, as I expect to be out exploring the island and won't be spending much time at the resort/room.

The Westin has come up on Priceline at cheap prices.

Yes, that's what I have heard. Any recent experience?

My husband and I were married on St John and stayed at the Westin in late October 2001.

He got it on priceline for 70 bucks a night and it was a great place to stay.

Only problem was our room was up on the hill and it's a fair climb, and the food in the hotel is hideously expensive.

But still, it's only 6 bucks in a taxi into Cruz Bay where you can dine at Woody's or my favourite...Smokey Joes, for half the price.

Just back from St John this Thanksgiving. I was torn between www.parkislevillas.com (http://www.parkislevillas.com) ($185-290 high season)and http://st-john.com/serendip/ ($120-180 high season)
Both of these are condos and don't have the amenities of the Westin, but I found it alot more peaceful got to eat out in town more. I ended up staying at serendip because I had a recommendation and it was perfect. I thought I would miss having a pool, but I spent all my time at the beach anyway.

Here's a Starwood thread about a pretty good deal at the Westin:

Closer than the westin- on the way there from town actually, (um... 3/4 mile? 5 minute drive at most going 25 miles per hour) but you wouldn't want to walk it it is up a big hill. There is a guy with a taxi that lives really near-by if you don't have a car.
