My fiancee and I are looking to honeymoon in St. Thomas and right now are looking at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort and Spa. I've heard good and bad things about it and am wondering if anyone has ever been there and can offer any suggestions for hotels on the island. I've heard its in a bad part of the island; is this true?

Thanks in advance.

I was in STT last summer (see my trip report here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum81/HTML/002163.html ) and stayed at the Ritz Carlton, which was absolutely fabulous. We went by the Wyndham several times as we toured the island. I don't know that the Wyndham is necessarily on a bad part of the island - - the entire island (with the exception of the far east end where the Ritz is located) has its tough spots. The real area to stay away from, as far as lodging, is Charlotte Amalie.

The Virgin Islands are terrific. In fact, I am presently planning a return trip. You really need to make time to see some of the other islands, including St. John and Virgin Gorda.
