A friend is trying to plan a group ski trip to Whistler this coming February. As none of us has been to Canada for skiing, we have no ideas for where to stay. Any suggestions? Anything we shouldn't miss while we are there?

Whistler gets really busy in the Winter! Lots of night life and more to do than just ski. Some tour companies offer snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and even dog-sledding. Staying at a ski-in/ski-out is my suggestion.

Where to stay depends on what you're looking for from your trip, and what you're willing to pay. Places in Whistler Village or Village North are closest to the mountain and the nightlife, and are typically more expensive. Places in the Upper Village are further away from the Village, and therefore generally quieter. Many Upper Village lodges offer ski in/out access. February is a very busy month in Whistler, so my advice would be to nail down a date soon and contact a travel agent for bookings. Another alternative is to search the web for private bookings - I had a good experience with this last year.

Check out www.whistlerblackcomb.com (http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com) for a good map of Whistler, and lodge/hotel descriptions. Feel free to email with detailed questions.
