I just returned back from a visit to Canada (Montreal and Quebec City). Although both are great, I really enjoyed Quebec City... it has alot of "cute" shops and good restaurants. And with the Canada vs US Dollar.. very reasonable.

I would recommend a nice Bread & Breakfast type room if not on business (most do NOT have private phones). But at the CAP DIAMONT that we stayed at the rooms were wonderful, good location.. and private baths in each room. All for about $90-105 CAD a night...
