about 40 of us in 4 generations are going to be in nassau for 2 days. ages from 85 to minus 1 month. we will stay on the ship. some will want to go to the beach, some will want to shop , etc. its on carnival.
is the port walking distance to town?
are there shuttles to a public beach.
how much do you get hassled if you walk around on your own?
thanks

As I remember the port was right near the old, burned-down straw market and tons of shopping. One of the things we did was take a ferry for $3.00 pp over to paradise island and spent the evening at the casino there and looking around the hotel. If you want to really see the ATlantis, you can purchase a relatively expensive day pass to use the facilities there, although the place is exceptional.
Purchase the day pass for the pool deck and beach at The Atlantis.

Get off the boast, and immediately take a cab ($10) to the Marriott on Cable beach. It is a beautiful property, and has a full sized casino. Next door is the Radisson, with beautiful pools, gardens, and hammocks. Both have an awesome beach.
After that, you could take a cab over to Atlantis for shopping, casino, and dinner.
Near the dock is nothing but cheap souvenir shops and markets.
