Looking to purchase a carry on roller. Anyone with suggestions? Most of my luggage is the new swiss army brand and I've been very happy with it so far....

I have a Tumi and a Briggs & Riley. The Tumi is slightly smaller but the handle broke and I need to get it fixed. The B&R seems better made although more utilitarian looking. B&R give a generous lifetime guaranty.

The Tumi fits front to back in many overhead bins. The B&R fits sideways in all of them and front to back in a few (it is bigger.)

Briggs & Riley. Check their website. Really good on the warranty and design.
Some pieces have a slot that slides over the handle, so a carry-on can "carry" your briefcase or second bag!

The wheeled duffles are great. My whole family has this stuff.

I use an Indian brand called "VIP Luggage" ( http://www.vipbags.com ). I have experimented with most of the Western brands and have found that none of those can give me the same quality and logevity.

They have some dealers who stock them in Europe and Asia, although I don't think that they have any US outlets yet. Extremely high quality luggage, and if you buy it in India it is a fraction of the cost you would pay for even a generic brand out West.

At a trade show, I recently met the chief designer of the McKlein USA brand of travel gear.

As a 20+ business travel veteran, I was really impressed with the thought process in the design of these products. Lifetime warranty included. Worth a look.

About a year or so ago I purchased a High Sierra's Endeavors "Executive" bag over at Magellans, go to www.Magellans.com (http://www.Magellans.com) and search for LC360 the product number. It's 22 x 14 x 9, and very well organized that you can get to half of the stuff from both inside and outside. I've been quite happy with it.

My generic USD20 rollaboard; bought in Orchard Street,NYC lasted about four years - took a lot of beating before the wheels gave way. Now I'm second year into another one from Orchard, but this one cost $45.

I second the Briggs & Riley recommendation. I have about 5 pieces, and they're very durable and functional. And they stand by their warranty. I've had zipper problems twice, and both times, I took it to my local B&R retailer (I think they need to be authorized to repair), and had it fixed quickly for free.

Another http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/thumbsup.gif for B&R: Costs less than Tumi, is better organized inside and comes w/a lifetime, no-fault warranty. What more could you ask??
