I'm planning a "mostly mileage run" to Tokyo which will give me 48 hours in Tokyo. Need a place to stay near the train station to/from Narita Airport. I'm looking for something economical (under 10,000 yen/night), and I'll most likely be there Jan. 25th and 26th. Any ideas? I don't even know where to look online for Tokyo lodgings. Thanks.

All the usual travel sites will have Tokyo hotel listings (Expedia.com, Travelocity.com, etc). Also, there are hotel booking desks in Narita airport which sometimes have good deals that aren't available by booking in advance. If you're feeling adventurous, wait to book a room when you arrive. I've received some great walk-up deals in Tokyo.
The Holiday Inn Narita is about $75 a night, or 10,000 yen. There are many other hotels in the area that have the same price range.

Thanks, aconcagua98. I'm trying to figure out a hotel around the "Tokyo Station" in Tokyo, to which the train from the airport will take me. I'm having a bit of difficulty figuring out what part of Tokyo I'll arrive in.
I figure that I'll try to stay near that station, so return to the airport will be convenient.

Tokyo station straddles the Marunouchi and Nihonbashi districts, i.e. corporate headquarters for the largest Japanese companies.
So all you'll find in this area are top-end hotels such as the Palace and Imperial hotels, and a number of tourist hotels such as the Kokusai Kanko, Yaesu Fujiya, and Tokyo Station hotels (from my map, never tried those tourist hotels). Since it is one of the highest rent areas in the world, I would expect the rooms to be tiny and uninspiring.
There are more hotels in the adjacent but expensive Ginza district, with a similar mix of fancy and tourist outfits.
One out of two 'Narita Express' trains goes to Shinjuku, where all the US chain hotels are (IC, Hyatt, Hilton), as well as a number of cheaper hotels.

Thanks, Monahos. I'm investigating Shinjuku. Looks like a winner to me. Lots of stuff to do, and the train to Narita leaves from there. I appreciate the tips.

Bob,
Have a good trip! I find http://www.japan-guide.com/ to have good tips about getting around in Japan, if you want to read up before your arrival in Japan.
I also recommend getting one of the new 'Passnet' prepaid subway cards, which work on all the different lines in Tokyo, unlike older ones. It deducts the fare automatically when inserted at the turnstile at the beginning and end of your trip, so you are spared the need to stand in line for tickets and to look up your fare beforehand.

Thanks, guys. I'm booked into the Hotel Jal Yotsuya, a Nikko Hotel in the Shinjuku district, for the two nights I'll be in Tokyo. Rate: 15,000 Yen per night. I'm looking forward to the trip.

I just booked a room at the Tokyo Dome hotel for 10,000 yen per night. I do not know exactly what the area is like but it's a great rate. I figure the subway can connect me to wherever I need to go.

cgrille, according to my guidebook, the Tokyo Dome is a baseball park, so I presume the hotel is nearby. The subway stop for the ball park is Suidobashi. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. I'll pick up a Fodor's Tokyo guide before I leave!
