OK - so a friend of mine went to a timeshare pitch and came out with a 2 person air/hotel certificate to go to vegas for the whopping price of $55 total.

So - for $27.50 apiece, we are going for 3 days and 2 nights.

However, the agency put us up at the Wild Wild West Hotel/Casino. It used to be called the King 8. It is on Tropicana Blvd, I think about 3/4 mile from the Strip.

Does anyone know anything about this hotel, or what is right near it?

It's not a long walk to the NYNY/ Excalibur area. I would rent a car though. It's right across the street from In N Out Burger. The rooms are small and very much like a Motel 6. The place is popular with truckers. Casino employees all seemed very friendly. It's just sort of a local's "dive"
