Which Las Vegas lunch and dinner buffet is the best -- price wise and food wise?
Thanks,

My favorite: Bellagio's Buffet..It's food's super!! Dinner is $21.95 (I think) and usually the line is 30-45 min long unless you go early.

sorry, fingers going abit fast there. I recommend based on food-wise... since to me, good quality food is always worth to pay a bit more (esp in Vegas the diff you pay makes BIG difference in what you get). Also, two other favorites are Paris Paris buffet and Rio Seafood buffet (in case you are over there and don't want to go back to Bellagio). Enjoy!!

Try doing a search for Vegas. I am sure that this toppic has been covered perviously.
I like the Main St buffet. It's the one the locals go to. The lines can be long - up to 1 hr - if there is a bus tour.

Hands down, the best buffet in Vegas is the Sunday Brunch at Mandalay!
If you have kids with you, the best buffet would be the Carnival World Buffet at the Rio Suites.
If you love seafood, the Seafood Buffet at the Rio Suites is good too.
I like the Big Kitchen Buffet at Bally's, and the Palladium Buffet at Caesars. The Mirage has an excellent breakfast spread!
The worst are at the Imperial Palace, Luxor, and Stardust.
I also like to check out the coffee shops at the hotels. The coffee shop at Binion's is excellent, as is the one at the LV Hilton, and the one at the Rio!

I agree with the above posters concerning the seafood buffet at the Rio although, by Las Vegas standards, it is a bit pricey at around $27.00.

I agree that the Bellagio buffet is fabulous. Excellent quality food. We only went to two buffets, though: Luxor and Bellagio. We went back to the Bellagio!

What great timing! I am here on business right now and was wondering which buffet should I go for this coming weekend http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I think i'll give Bellagio a try, my co-worker told me about the buffet in Aladdin has anyone tried that?

I've eaten at many buffets in Las Vegas and have watched the changes for 30 years. The best value buffet is at Bellagio and it has slipped a few notches since MGM takeover. It is still a class act and whatever is voted for second place.......is a distant second.
But that is my opinion. Other buffets serve many more people.

I've only been to Vegas once, but I've asked alot of veteran Vegas trippers their opinions on the buffets there. By far, the Bellagio seems to be the popular choice as the best Vegas buffet. It is about $22 (breakfast and lunch are cheaper). If you like Seafood then the Rio buffet, which I think is around $25, is the one to go to. While everybody has their own opinions, the Bellagio and Rio buffets are the two most commonly mentioned.
But if you don't want to spend that much money, then the Main Street Station buffet (in downtown) is good for around $10-$13 (most days it's $10, but on certain days of the week when they have steak or seafoord, it's $12 or $13). Main St seems to be the best "bang for the buck" buffet. Also, this buffet is a good one to go before seeing the "Fremont Street Experience", since it's close by.
On the strip, if you only want to spend about $15, then Bally's "Big Kitchen" buffet seems to be the most oft mentioned buffet in that price range.
For the best buffet UNDER $10 and close to the strip, the one at the Orleans gets alot of mentions. I think it is $8-$9. The Orleans is a few blocks off the strip (down the street from Bally's), but you can get their via a shuttle bus from its sister property on the strip, the Barbary Coast (next to Bally's).
There are buffets in the $6 range (like Sahara and Gold Coast), but you get what you pay for. I've heard some pretty funny jokes about the quality of food at these buffets, so I don't think it would be a good idea to go to one of these. You're probably better off at McDonald's http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif The buffets at Boardwalk and Circus Circus are also to be stayed away from...
In the opposite extreme, for buffet's over $50, there's Bally's Sterling Sunday Brunch Buffet. I've never eaten there, but I heard they have all-you-can-eat top quality caviar. I wonder if that's true...

The RIO's is the most popular with the locals, if that is an indication of anything.
The Bellagio has probably had the best selection/quality (some buffet's can get downright nasty at those grind joints), but since MGM has moved in, all bets are off!

OMG!!! Admittedly, its been a few years since I've been to Vegas...early and mid-90's. But whatever happened to the quality under-$10 buffet? I remember when the Golden Nugget had a $1.99 steak dinner at midnight and a fabulous dinner buffet for $9.95. OTOH, back then gasoline went for $1.30 a gallon. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Golden Nugget's dinner buffet is still about as cheap as it was when you last went there, it's only $0.30 more expensive. It's now $10.25. But the question is -- is it still as fabulous as you remember it was 10 yrs ago?
One of the restaurants at Ellis Island casino (close to Ballys) has a big steak dinner for less than $5. And you don't have to wait till Midnight to get it. It's not on the menu, you have to ask for it.
[Edited to correct a math error ($10.25 - $9.95 != $0.50 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redface.gif]

I've only been to one buffet and that was for breakfast at the Las Vegas Hilton.
What is available at lunch and dinner buffets at those buffets you all like? It's really that good? What's there to choose from?
I'm off to Las Vegas this weekend on business and perhaps I'll try one based on your experiences.

Hello from LAS VEGAS. I live here now, and the thing about the buffets is that they may be great etc., by the time you stand in line, or wait an hour or longer, you have lost your desire to eat. The main thing to do, is GAMBLE, and then ask the PIT BOSS for a comp meal. Then you dont have to wait in the long long long lines. All the casino buffets specialize in different area's. The Luau @ Imperial Palace is UNBELIEVABLE. You will think you are in Maui for a few hours

It may be worth noting that if you're interested in the greatest possible SELECTION, then the RIO buffet is clearly the largest.
I went in February and from what I remember they have: salad bar, chinese, japanese, BBQ, grill, pizza, pasta, desert, steak/roast area.
If I were you then I would only go to the dinner/lunch buffets. The breakfast buffets are all pretty much the same. The best time to arrive for dinner would be around 4 PM (PST), because if you wait longer than that, then the lines get really long.

What if I want a late dinner....how are the lines around 9pm?
Also, how do you locate a pit boss? Does the comp meal allow you to miss the lines? I ask that question because I imagine the pit boss wants gamblers to return to gambling as quickly as possible.

Analise,
The buffets generally shut down early in the evening. check with each hotel for the hours, but I don't know of many that are open that late. There are some special 'late night' specials that hotels put on, but I don't think they have the same varieties that a typical Vegas buffet has.
As far as the pit-bosses: A pit boss is inside every 'pit'. If you play table games like blackjack, roulette, etc, a pit boss will be in the middle of 4 tables. He/she will be the one peering over the dealers shoulders once in a while. They comp you based on how long you play, and the size of your bets (but generally NOT how much you win). Good luck in Vegas.

Rio was supposed to be great. I thought it was so-so. I think I've become a foodie and buffet food is no longer appealing.

I have not been to a lot of LV buffets (and am generally not a fan of buffets as I prefer freshly cooked food), but I thought that the Aladin buffet was fantastic. They must have had at least 8 different food items, all with food being prepared fresh.

Best buffets would have to be:
1. Bellagio Sunday Brunch
2. Regent Hotel for Dinner- panoramic view of mountains and partial view of strip. Far from the strip but very nice. Same hotel chain as the world famous Regent Hotel in Hong Kong and in New York. Room prices are a steal with huge marble baths and excellent spa.
A good breakfast buffet is Fiesta Casino. Little known and just north of downtown but with espresso and capuccino machine included in buffet. If you've been up all night, you will enjoy all you can drink espresso. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif
Word of advice- stay away from Excalibur.

Well if these buffets close before 9pm, I guess they won't see me. I prefer later dinners. Plus I much prefer fresh food versus something sitting under a sneeze guard for a while. Good to know. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I really like seafood... So I would suggest the following:
Rio Seafood Buffet. About $27, but it includes all you can eat LOBSTER and CRAB.
Fiesta. On Wednesdays, all you can eat hot CRAB. I think it was $15.
Sam's Town. Also all you can eat hot CRAB. I think it was $17. Only on Friday and Saturday last time I checked.

www.cheapovegas.com (http://www.cheapovegas.com) for great buffet reviews.
Analise, your last post indicates your ignorance of Las Vegas. Actually, your last two posts do that. But you did ask what was so great in a previous post. For me, the king crab legs at the Bellagio. Also, many of the high end buffets are cooking food as you watch. This was mentioned by freakflyer, who enjoys the Alladin.

Just got back from Vegas last night again. I ate at the Rio seafood buffet and the Mandalay Sunday brunch buffet again. Both were really good, as usual.
The desserts at Rio were especially noteworthy this time. Mandalay's lamb steaks and Veal shank was tasty, but I mostly at from the salad bar this time. Mandalay has free champagne.
I ate pizza at NYNY hotel, which was some of the best I've had West of Chicago. It was about $3 a slice. Also, the Chin Chin Asian restaurant at NYNY was really good. Try the Shu Mei!
For cheap eats, try the Coffee shop at San Remo. I've eaten there twice, and the $5.95 prime rib was well worth the price. The "America" coffee shop at NYNY wasn't very good -- tried it twice as well.
I've heard very good things about the Coffee shop in Barbary Coast, although I haven't eaten there. All of the food at Binion's downtown is good. If you like shrimp cocktail, go to Palladium at Caesar's -- they're peeled already.
