Rank: Southwest has the most helpful flight attendants among the top nine airlines, J.D. Power and Associates reports Wednesday. Continental and TWA tied for second, and US Airways scored third, also above the industry average. Below average, in descending order, were American, Delta, United, America West and Northwest. Rankings are based on the Power/Frequent Flyer survey of 6,520 frequent business travelers.

My only comment would be that I thought it was JD Power's policy not to rank the bottom of their rankings, in other words they just say these are the lower fifty percent in no particular order (usually alphabetical order).

Note the position of NWA, however. Dead last!

Doc - I'll be interested to see what happens with the NWA flight attendants. I think they've been really disheartened and distracted for the past couple of years because of the labor dispute with Northwest. Now that the two sides seem to have settled I've already noticed a distinct improvement in their attention to customers. I guess time will tell.

I must admit, though, that in the past couple of years my experiences with United and American FAs have been mixed, but I've been really impressed by the attitudes of all of the Continental folks (not just the flight attendants).

I am with Matt Wald - in average nothing beats the attention and readyness to serve, help, smile, make you feel comfortable of asian flight-attendants (my experience so far limited to Thai and Singapore).

world-apart from us "westerners".
