Continuing my now famous tradition of asking for advice on products, it's now an Exercise Bike http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif
I just came back from Sears, where they had a Weslo 310 CS for $149 (similar to this model (http://www.iconfitness.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prmenbr=979&prrfnbr=537627&cgrfnbr=9815))
I like that design, of a bigger seat, and pedaling from that position.
I want to buy a nice one, but without having to break the bank.
Smooth ride, and I don't need all the fancy schmancy features, just something comfortable for the money.
BTW, don't want to spend more than $300 (S/H included)
I prefer a rower. I like the upper body workout and the aerobic effects. For some reason I've never liked stationary bikes - too boring. I prefer to ride my bike outside instead.

Well, I can't ( (http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/Forum44/HTML/018235.html) http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/mad.gif
I'd recommend an elliptical over a bike. Like the bike, it's still puts low stress on your joints, if that's a consideration, but you get more of a full body workout, so it's a better exercise:
I've never used this particular brand or model, so I'm not endorsing it. Just showing it as an example of what one looks like.

I have a Schwinn Airdyne. Bought it from an individual who realized he didn't have room for it in his apartment. Cost me $300. Considering they sell new from $699, it was a pretty good deal. Check the classifieds under health and fitness equipment. Always deals to be found there. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif

I like those better, but this is for my wife, and she wants a bike.
Although, with enough convincing, I might be able to convince her to get one of those instead.
But those are expensive http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/eek.gif
I think I might try a few yard sales this weekend and see what I can find

Oh, you're buying and not selling. In that case, please see also (http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/Forum44/HTML/006107.html).
(At first I thought you were trying to sell us a bike, in which case I was going to question whether OMNI had now become jfeBay.)

I bought a used LifeCycle one for $150 or so. It is a home model but quite strong and well made.
I think biking on it is terribly boring but I read or I watch the Simpsons or something and the time passes. I use it to warm up prior to weightlifting or stretching also, sometimes just doing 3 - 5 minutes on it. Quite handy and I *hate* treadmills.
Ellipticals can be good but you need one that you are comfortable with, that has pathways that work for your body. You really need to try it out for awhile before buying one.

I like ellipticals, those are the ones that I use at the Gym, and that is the only thing that I do at EP Fitness. I do my weights at UTEP, so there is really no reason to keep paying EP Fitness fees.
People see me go like crazy in one of those, so me being fat, they think is real easy, so they start and 5 minutes later they are out of breath.
But the wife wants a bike, unless I convince her http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif

Well, I finally finished assembling my new bike, took almost a whole day this weekend, the darn thing came in almost 500 pieces http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/mad.gif
But it is very nice, and has a smooth ride.
It's a proform, which retails for $350, but was on sale, and with a 25% off coupon, got the thing for $240 (including tax)
So it wasn't that bad.
Thank God for wireless internet <puff, puff>], guess where I am posting from this morning?
