I am wondering what I might find in front of me on a 2 1/2-hour, DCA-FLL flight (3:00 PM, US 1239)? Any clue?

Cape Cod chips, cashews, and granola bars.

Pen marks on the seat back will also be in front of you. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Glad that you asked! When US started with the In-Flight cafe, we were given the same meal as Coach, gratis! However, the size of the 1st class meal has dwarfed into a minature version of what's available in Coach. I still can't figure that one out. Either way, the option of the month varies between some type of sandwich or salad and the USAIRWAYS website will typically have the selections for the month. I would suggest that you grab whatever you like while in the concourse as the meal isn't worth the wait. Your stomach will thank you!

Aside from the pen marks, would this be it on a flight which specifically says "Snack/Brunch" on the eticket itinerary?

I thought I read on this board that US was abandoning the IFC in F, and returning to more traditional services. If this is the case, I would assume you might get a cold chicken plate or something. However, they don't communicate these changes well, so I have no real first hand information on what you should expect.

A 3PM departure to Florida is usually just the snack basket. Don't forget the Milanos.

In the past month or so I have flown 4 times out of DFW - DFW-PIT, DFW-PHL and DFW-CLT in the AM

2 or three of the times, my options were:
1) zucchini bread (sliver), yogurt, and fruit (mostly honeydue) or (don't ask me) a small EGG SALAD sandwich in lieu of the zucchini bread.

On my last flight this past weekend out of DFW I overheard a FA frustrated that they didn't restock all the snacks (cookies, pretzels, etc.) and it sounded like he wasn't going to offer snacks. What he did, which was creative and I'll give him points for...he just gave us a mix of about 4 snacks each with our tiny meal in lieu of coming out with a very small snack tray.

The only meal I've had in months was PHL-SAN on a morning flight - I think it was eggs...like i used to get flying out of DFW...

Here is the response I received from Consumer Affairs today. I advise everyone to write to them if you are concerned about this.. (Consumer_Affairs@usairways.com)

Dear Mr. G...:

I am sorry you were displeased with the quality of the meal on your recent
US Airways flight in First Class. I appreciate the opportunity to address
this matter for you.

We recognize what a large bearing our inflight meal service has on our
customers' overall feelings about US Airways, and we place a great deal of
emphasis on providing quality meals that are properly prepared. So that we
may more fully benefit from your comments, I have shared your letter with the
Director of Dining and Cabin Services. We have been able to make many
positive changes in our service as a direct result of feedback received from
our customers.

Mr. G..., thank you again for contacting us. We appreciate your
patronage and hope to have many opportunities to welcome you aboard US Airways.

Sincerely,
XXX XXX

Had the egg-salad like concoction PHL-MSP this AM (with cape cod chips?). Actually, the meals in coach sounded better. In F, the alternative was zucchini bread.
But the bloody mary was good http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Had the zucchini bread this morning PHL-DFW, with the mini fruit salad.

The interesting bit was listening to the IFC sales pitch in Y -- in addition to the two $7 selections, there was also a $5 "snack box" selection that sounded a lot like the good old snack boxes that we used to get for free back there - small sandwich, crackers, mint/chocolate bit.

Sounded to me like they're still tweaking the IFC.

Oh, and I was sitting in 1D, and the seat pocket was barely attached to the bulkhead - it was dangling by one screw, flopping around and totally useless.

Gross.

Brett

Alas, you were deprived of the picasso-like pen marks.
Yes I'll hop on the wagon too.

I got a roll with turkey on it and a little pasta salad and a chocolate on one leg and a another sandwich that I cannot recall what was in it on the other because by that time I had 4 Finlandias and a Heinekin.

I'm flying PIT-LAX on Friday evening in F with a "Snack/Brunch" designation. What's this service been like these days? I'm just wondering if I should bring my own... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Just flew the LAX-PIT redeye on Sunday, designated as "Snack/Brunch" in F. Scheduled to be a 321, equipment sub to a dirty 320. I was in 3C, and 2C was covered in pen marks (both black and blue!) and was permanently reclined. Anyway, the food was a ham and cheese sandwich on a croissant, a bunch of grapes, and Milanos.

Just did SFO-PHL and it was turkey and cheese, grapes, and an xoxo bar for the redeye. Oddly enough, it was a REAL sandwhich, not an IFC substitute meal.
