In the past I have been able to get 1st class awards on the days that I wanted, but not this year. I didnt see spending 120K miles each way when 30K coach seats were available (Carribean - 30/60 standard, 70/120 premium).

But then I remembered reading that a premium award was immediatley upgradeable, so for only 70K I was able to get the dates that I wanted.

Works anywhere except Europe (but including the Caribbean) with electronic upgrades; Eurpoe works with SWUs.
