Im still a peon, no status, but im working on it and will be silver shortly. However, I just called the reservations line to get seat assignments because the flight is oversold and it will totally mess my plans up if i dont make the flight. So, i get someone on the phone and they were totally rude and told me that they were only selling tickets and couldnt help me, the disconnected. I called back, same response but got transferred and now have been on hold for 10 minutes. In the past they have been more than willing to help. Anyone else been experiencing this?

If the flight is oversold, you will not be able to get seat assignments at all. Get to the airport as soon as possible and use online check-in 24 hours prior to your flight. You're only guaranteed a seat as a CP flying on full fare, IIRC. Good luck.

Looks like it turns out im just a lucky stiff. The agent i finally got was very nice, as i am used to with U. anyway, she did say that it was oversold, but said there were a few seats left that had not been assigned and seated me, whew...

Please don't let one bad egg ruin things for you. As most in this forum have experienced, the frontline employees have almost always been very good to me. I won't let that gate agent at DCA sour me on the great special services agent in CLT. And all of the helpful people I've experienced in PIT.

Glad to hear it turned out well (thanks for coming back and posting the update!).
Still, you'll want to leave early for the airport....

FWIW, not having a seat assignment does not place you at greater risk for a bump, nor does having a seat assignment reduce your risk.

How do you figure?

And being a CP doesn't guarantee you a seat. It guarantees you get a ticket.
Many folks who have a ticket with a seat assignment end up not flying, involuntarily.
Now, I can't imagine a bump priority that would get down to invol. bumping a CP paying full-fare. But it's not a guarantee.
Oooh, I'm feeling very pedantic today....

US is down to two res call centers, PIT and INT. It appears they have segmented the call centers, and they have different "desks" that handle different functions. It often results in a transfer shuffle. For example, last weekend, I followed the menu prompts for weather related rebooking. After waiting on hold for like 20 minutes, an agent answered, I told her I needed to rebook due to weather, and she said I would need to be transferred to a different department. I am curious if when you are CP if those agents can do most all things and thus elliminating transfers between general sales, the reissue desk, etc?

Yes they can and do. In my experience the CP Liason desk is fantastic. They have been able to handle just about every type of transaction I've needed from a simple ticket purchase to the more complicated weather delays and re-issues. The only exception (in my experince) is international tickets where they will transfer you to the international desk and place in the front of the line for the next agent if there is a wait.
